TIM LANG: My People

Hola~

I am so thankful for the kind support I have received from around the world to keep recording my music. It's overwhelming the kindness I have been shown and I hope the music I keep putting out will be worthy of it.

I want to dedicate this page to my friends and supporters. It is meant to showcase the amazing people my music has connected me with.

It has been a great gift.

Always thankful,

tim

MY PEOPLE
I asked the world to give me their photo take on Summer Trees. Here is what I got - I love them and hope you do too!

Megg is a talented and bold artist. She is currently working on an illustrated book that will for sure be amazing. These two photos below from her show her instinctive use of composition. Oh - and they rock!

Jill took the amazing shot below by Rennies Beach near her home in beautiful Australia. It's a native bansksia tree. Jill often torments me with telling me about the incredible waves hitting her coast. It always seems to coincide with the ocean by me looking flat as a pond.

MJ is an illustrator, artist, muralist and photographer - she is also ridiculously kind. Her photos below capture the wonder that's always around us but seldom paused for. Check out MJ's art by going to my link page.

Hi Tim,

I saw your tweet about sending you pics of summer trees. As I listen to your great "Summer Trees" song I downloaded to my iPod, I wanted to send you a pic of a common Eastern Canadian tree. It is my favourite because of how it changes colours in the Fall. The colours are brilliant. It is the Maple tree. The maple leaf is the symbol on our flag. The maple tree also makes delicious maple syrup in the winter! It is strong and sturdy and gives soothing shade in the heat of summer. These summer trees held the tire swings we used to ride in the summer. They were great climbing trees as well and we used to see how high up we could climb! My family had a cottage and we used to go up every weekend and then when school was out we would go up all summer. There was this maple tree at my cottage that grew over the river. Someone had ,years earlier, attached a rope to it so we could climb the tree and "sit" on the rope swing and then jump into the river! It was sooo much fun. These are great summer memories for me . The maple trees do evoke incredible summer memories for many of us Canadians! They are well rooted and provide safety. Okay I'll stop the analogies so you can see the pic! Enjoy! Great tune by the way!

All the best,

Karyne

Anne from France shares a shot or two from the home of the Arthurian Legends. Anne is a mesmerizing and solid writer and hopes to have a book published soon - until then she is always ready to throw in a witty remark usually at my expense - ha! Anne has single handedly lead much of France to discovering my music and I am continuously thankful for the kindness!

Cissi from Stockholm is kind of a rock n' roll connoisseur. This photo below of hers makes you want to waste a day away under it! Enough said.

Post-Surf coming to life and how you can help!

Like most things it started with a quick denial. It’s just too simple of an idea to work well. I was thinking of my friends around the globe and all of these adventures we weave in and out of. I wanted to create a piece of music that you’d put in for the long ride home. Post-adventure. Post-a new tale. Post-discovery. Something sonically to allow a moment to process what just happened. Your friend’s jokes and exaggerated stories still in your head. A hillside with a view like heaven. An old and forgotten road. The salt of the sea on your skin. Tally the adventure up in a sum of notes and harmony.

I went on thinking what would this music sound like? It’d be made up of the soul of the tree that formed the guitar you hold in your hands. It’d be like the simple rhythm of the rain. It’d be the song to hear in your head while you lie on your back watching stars. I started writing a whole slew of songs within this architecture of simplicity. Pretty soon I started finding myself humming these songs to myself - mostly after surfing. Driving home from the sea and thinking of things that are still magic in this world. So for me these songs became my post-surf routine. I’d like it to be yours too.

Post-Surf is my new album in pre-production. It’s heavily acoustic. It’s chill, but fun. It’s the music for your post-whatever you love to do. Music for after that thing you do to reconnect with all things bigger than us. After you get lost in that passion of yours I want this album to be your music for the ride home.

As an independent musician my music has only seen the light of day because of the kindness and generosity of others. Would you help me create Post-Surf? Please take part in donating for this new album. I need your help to bring this project to life.

With greatest appreciation,

tim

Questions? See if you get an answer below:

If I only donate a few dollars will that really help?
Yes! Even a small donation can go a long way, especially when many friends and supporters do it.

What will you do with the money?
I will use the money for recording and releasing a new album. There are many parts to that process as you probably can imagine. I need money to help pay the producer, engineer, and finalization of the music (mixing, mastering). And that is just the recording process. I am looking forward to doing a video for the album to promote (look out YouTube and beyond!!). Eventually you will see this album released on all digital venues (iTunes, Amazon, etc.).

How will I get my copy of the album when it is finished?
No worries, I will make sure you receive a copy. After your donation, I will get your contact info and upon release it's yours.

I don't believe in Pay Pal and would like to instead send a check. Is that cool?
Yes and so are you! Email me at tim@timlang.net for where to send your check.

Will donating give me warm and fuzzy feelings?
YES! (Though legally I am only allowed to say it is possible.) I guarantee I will appreciate the help and will no doubt be overwhelmed by warm fuzzy feelings.

What is Skype?
Skype is a software application that allows users to make telephone calls over the Internet. It also allows video conferencing. Check it out at www.skype.com. The downloaded options needed to see a performance are free! Yep, free.

When can I make a date to hear/see a live performance on Skype?
As soon as you make your donation send me an email and let's make a date! Email me here on myspace or at tim@timlang.net. I look forward to singing this song to you... and of course rocking your socks.

Any fine print?
Of course, but it's all good (see below)!
